Frequently Asked Questions
What is the placement process like?
Once you're admitted to an internship program, your Site Director will work with you to place you with a company that best fits your academic and career interests. We partner with a wide-variety of companies for summer internship placements.
There are opportunities for students from all majors; however, some countries are a better fit for certain career paths. Students will typically learn about their final placement at least one month before the program starts.

Can I receive academic credit for my internship?
Yes, students can receive credit for their internship with approval from their home university. We encourage all students to check with their university about how to receive academic credit for their internship.
We will work with you every step of the way to make sure your internship meets their requirements. More information found here.

What is the cost of each program?
Our Internship Programs range in cost from $3795 - $4495, depending on country and duration. This fee covers a student's cost of living for the duration of their program, less some personal expenses. Please navigate to the specific program pages to see a detailed overview of cost and inclusions.

Are the internships paid opportunities?
All of our internships are unpaid opportunities for students to develop new transferable skills and boost experience on their resume. Each program includes additional professional development opportunities we have set up according to the interests of students who participate.

Do I have to be a student-athlete to participate in an internship program?
No, you do not have to be a student-athlete to participate in one of our programs. We design all of our programs with student-athletes in mind (i.e. short-term summer programs and a gym membership included in all packages); however, our programs are a great fit for managers, ex-athletes, and non-student-athletes as well!

Is there a language requirement for the Spanish-speaking countries?
We will not ask students to take a language test nor provide a language proficiency certificate. We may ask about your language abilities during your interview in order to provide you with the best internship experience.
If you have doubts about your language proficiency, ask our staff on during your interview.

Are there fundraising and scholarship opportunities?
If you are in need of financial means to help fund your program, we encourage you to check out our Fundraising Resource page. Be sure to discuss it during your interview call. Our team is ready to work with you to explore funding options and ensure that this opportunity remains within reach.

Are your programs open to non-US citizens?
Our programs welcome students from any nationality. However, please note that we do not provide visa or immigration assistance for non-U.S. citizens. If you do not hold a U.S. passport, we recommend checking the consulate or embassy website of your home country to understand the specific visa or entry requirements for participating in our programs.

Can I participate in more than one program?
We make it easy for students to participate in more than one program by aligning dates to facilitate travel plans between programs. For students interested in extending their experience abroad, we recommend the following:
Spain Sports Marketing (June) + Spain Internship (July)
Costa Rica Spanish Intensive (June) + Costa Rica Internship (July)
Greece Internship (June) + Northern Ireland Internship (July)
Plus, students who double down on programs or are SAA alumni receive discounts on future programs!
